According to the Peotone Board meeting notes from November 14, a staffing reorganization was proposed and discussed to address zoning and code work.

The meeting minutes indicate that Village Administrator Nick Palmer sent Mayor Peter March a recommendation for promoting Diane Nielsen to a full-time clerical/financial analyst position. Nielsen's current responsibilities include payroll, accounting, human resources, and other financial tasks.

Palmer also recommended increasing hours as needed for Karen Bakker for permit processing and other clerical support at the front desk. Although this adjustment would put Bakker over the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) limit, Palmer said that the costs are manageable.

The recent departure of the Building & Zoning Coordinator/Code Enforcement Officer has increased demands on the administrative staff. The budget from this vacated position, along with funds allocated for two unfilled part-time positions in the Community Development department, is available.

Palmer believes this staff reorganization will positively impact the village's budget and improve services for residents and businesses requiring these services.
