Bill, affectionately known as Plastic Bottle Bill, Augie, and Uncle Billy, served his community with passion. His dedication as a Jack-of-all-trades earned him a spot as a Battalion Chief in the Peotone Fire Protection District for 32 years. Additionally, he was a trustee on the Manhattan/Peotone Fire Protection District Board. Bill spent over 30 years at Nicor before retiring in 2015, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vickie (Wright) Osborne; children Joshua (Kelly) Osborne, Christopher (Shelby) Osborne, and Brianna Lubert; grandchildren Shaylee Osborne-Zuelke, Keegan Krug, Zoey Osborne, Cambrian Osborne, Sophia Osborne, Corbin Pistilli, Luke Lubert, Ava Lubert, and Brayden Lubert. Bill also leaves behind siblings Alan (Lisa) Osborne, David (Deb) Osborne, Cindy (George) Cole, Timothy (Kristi) Osborne, and Gregory Osborne, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place at the Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a fire department walk-through service at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Dress casually in honor of Bill's preferred attire of jeans and flannels. He will be laid to rest at Peotone Cemetery.
